Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award 

 

The Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award is the highest tribute ACT-IAC can bestow upon a member of the IT community. It originated in 2001 in memory of Janice Mendenhall, a life-long government civil servant and exceptional leader known for her focus on mentoring and strengthening government and industry relations.  Janice Mendenhall was known as a leader who focused her attention on mentoring and teaching other up-and-coming professionals. She worked relentlessly to strengthen relationships between government and industry personnel. Through her involvement, Janice left behind a legacy of individuals who have grown professionally and personally. ACT and IAC continue to pay a tribute to Janice by recognizing an outstanding individual who embodies like qualities and professional aspirations as Janice.

 

The Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award is given to a government or industry executive who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and made a continuing contribution over a sustained period of time to the government IT community.  A nominee for the Janice K. Mendenhall award will be recognized by his/her their peers for a commitment to public service and a reputation for integrity.  Criteria that will be considered include the following:

  • Support for a healthy and robust public-private partnership;
  • Substantial contributions to the government IT community and the improvement of government through the application of IT assets;
  • Demonstrated leadership in his/her professional capacity and as a participant in ACT-IAC;
  • Recognition of the value of individuals to the accomplishment of organizational goals and a history of supporting the professional and personal development of others;
  • ·Ability to create a vision and forge consensus among diverse points of view;
  • A reputation for integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards.
