Professional Development Advisory Committee

The mission of the PDAC is to provide advice and guidance on the strategic growth and direction of the Professional Development programs within ACT-IAC.  Some of these programs started as early as 1997 and today professional development is evolving into two distinct tracts.

The first tract, and most developed at this time, are the selective professional development programs that include the Partners and Voyagers Programs.  These programs are highly regarded in Government and industry as the preeminent Executive Leadership Development programs that pair Government and industry together through an intensive 9-month program.  These programs are highly competitive, have fixed yearly class-sizes, and require an application process for consideration.  Graduates of these programs continue their networking and leadership development, while taking on additional support roles for ACT-IAC, as members of the ACT-IAC Fellows Program.

The second tract is a newly formed Leadership Development Initiative designed to bring professional development opportunities to all of ACT-IAC members (Open Professional Development).  This initiative is first looking across all volunteer leadership positions within ACT-IAC with the goal of enhancing the leadership experience for all members.  This includes identifying and defining the positions, educating members on leading in a volunteer-based organization, and using web-based technologies to improve leadership communications known as the Leadership Corner. Overtime this initiative will explore additional professional development opportunities that can be offered to all ACT-IAC members and may include certification programs, small business programs, and technology and acquisition programs.

PDAC is an excellent way to get involved in leadership positions within ACT-IAC.  PDAC is composed of four subcommittees whose overall duties are reviewing the past years programs and providing guidance on the future.  The Subcommittees include:

  • Program Operations
  • Outreach and Communications
  • Program Development
  • Leadership Development Task Force (Open Professional Development)
